This is a happy day for planet Earth. An international peace treaty between Iran and several other nations goes into effect today.This peace deal was a tough one for negotiators to conclude, and tough for responsible world leaders like Barack Obama and Hassan Rouhani to explain to their voters. Our world leaders have a reason to be proud today.
As a diplomatic milestone, this peace deal is absolutely historic. It ends sixty years of bad karma between Iran, England and the United States of America (sadly, most of this was UK and USA's fault, back in 1953). To punctuate the positive spirit, a second peace deal was announced today that frees several prisoners held between Iran and USA. In a time when we often seem overwhelmed by bad news, let's pause to celebrate the good news — historic good news — that's happening right now.
